2017 BAMM Festival Line Up
Friday June 16th
6:00pm – 7:00pm
Lizard Lounge Band Tularosa, NM
Their beginnings start a decade ago in a little shack on Lizard Ranch Road in Tularosa NM. They christened this shack the Lizard Lounge. It was a place where they learned and practiced their craft while entertaining friends, family and community. The members of the band are deeply rooted in the Tularosa Basin with bloodlines that date back to the time of Billy the Kid and beyond. The generations before them have influenced their music with a mixture of Blues, old time Rock N Roll, Latino and Country music. They have combined this and the stories that have been passed to create the music of The Lizard Lounge BAND.
9:00pm – 10:30pm
Shawn James & the Shapeshifters Fayetteville, AR
Shawn James & The Shapeshifters are a 4 piece heavy blues rock band from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Their brand of hard hitting electrified dirty delta blues rock combined with Shawn's soulfully roaring vocals make for an intense listening experience whether playing the records or seeing them live.
11:00pm – 12:30am
Casual Fridays Las Cruces, NM
Since 2005, The Casual Fridays have been energizing the southern New Mexico desert with a fresh but heavy dose of ska. While much of the music stays true to First Wave Ska there are elements of soul, skacore, reggae, punk, and 50's American music as well as some skankalicious cover songs. The Casual Fridays have an energetic live show with music that will make you want to tap your toes and get up and skank. When it comes to ska, they serve it up raw with an energetic punch
11:00am - 12:00pm
The Robert Kuhns Galveston, TX
The Robert Kuhns are a ragtag group of musicians gathered around songs written by Robert over the last few years. Robert Kuhn moved to Houston in 2010 after bouncing around the world for twelve years. Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, Australia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Nicaragua all played home for him as different doors, jobs, occupations and art forms opened and led him on and on to the next stop. Broken hearts, broken backs, failed marriages, violence, riches, drugs, labor, love, poverty, music, poetry, dirt and salt; so it goes and continues. Robert now lives in Galveston, Houston and on the road through the Americas where he is still rolling and sharing the unique independent folk, blues and multicultural psyche-rock and roll Americana music that he writes and finds. At the least it is honest.
1:30pm - 2:00pm
3:20pm – 4:30pm
Secret Circus Roswell, NM
The core of the band and arts collective Secret Circus, is Twins Klas (aka Captain) and Joel Åhman. Although originally hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, the band has made the Southwest USA their winter home and primary hunting grounds since their first US tour in 2011. Secret Circus makes Pagan Country, Gangster Folk, and Death Jazz. Fans and press often describe them as a mix of Pink Floyd and Dire Straits with a hint of Hendrix.
4:50pm - 6:00pm
Delaney Davis Ruidoso, NM
Over the course of almost a decade as a singer/songwriter, Delaney has evolved and developed her unique style, blending elements of soul, folk, blues, and jazz. Her beautifully expressive, breathy voice melds with her thoughtfully percussive guitar rhythms to create, what Blake Martin of the Ruidoso News referred to as, “imaginative melodies”.
7:40pm - 8:00pm - BAMM Festival Raffle
8:00pm - 9:30pm
Squash Blossom Boys Albuquerque, NM
Based in Albuquerque NM, The Squash Blossom Boys have played southwestern stages for over ten years. With beginnings as a garage band, they have explored a variety of musical genres including rock, jazz, raggae and more to find the hard driving, high lonesome sound of Bluegrass music.
10:00pm – 11:30pm
A local favorite is back to make you shake your booty. CW Ayon may call the Southwestern deserts of New Mexico home but his soul is deeply rooted in the Blues and grooves of the Mississippi Hill Country. With a rather simple kick/snare and tambourine setup he lays down solid beats while picking out some catchy hooks on anything from acoustic to resonator guitars.
11:50pm – 1:30am
Inspired by Dictionary of American Slang, Merican Slang, Albuquerque’s premier funk band, was established in April, 2011. Merican Slang is often described as experimental and unique; “Merican Slang’s music has been likened to the JBs and the Meters” (Local IQ Magazine). Merican Slang attracts a regional fan base which loves to dance and party until last call! “They’re a booty poppin’ party band” (Local Alibi).
